2018 was another challenging but exciting year for the FinTech and payments industry. New regulation came into force; the latest advances in tech were released and there was an encouraging rise in the number of women launching and leading FinTechs.

The European Women in Payments Network also saw great success in 2018. Membership increased significantly, bringing further awareness and engagement. And we had a fantastic conference in Amsterdam in October.

Looking forward, 2019 is set to be another exciting year as the EWPN remains committed to creating a more diverse and inclusive industry, celebrating and supporting women’s achievements across the payments ecosystem. Our goal is to make organisations such as ours redundant, and we know everyone involved with the organisation will be right behind us.

Make a date for EWPN Annual Conference & Awards in partnership with Money20/20 Europe

Money20/20 Rise Up programme

Alongside Money20/20’s sponsorship of our conference, we are also keen to align our values and aims. In particular, we are supporting the Rise Up programme which launched in 2018.

Money20/20 created Rise Up to address the gender imbalance in leadership positions within the Financial Services and FinTech industry, promoting the belief that inclusive businesses are better businesses. It is a global programme, designed to provide support and actionable skills for women working to take the next steps to increased seniority within their careers. This exclusive programme will expose participants to contacts, mentors, executive training and learnings that will catapult their career to the next level.

In 2018, Money20/20 hand-selected 30 women to take part in an exclusive agenda at Money20/20 USA, complete with a series of bespoke content sessions and unique networking opportunities. Alongside regular programming, they took part in one-to-one mentoring with the most respected industry leaders, private meetings with keynote speakers and other special events.

EWPN is the exclusive supporting partner for Rise Up in Europe, and at least five EWPN members will be selected to join the 2019 Rise Up Academy.

More details on the Rise Up programme will follow in our next update.

Join EWPN for free!

To ensure our network can engage women and men from across the entire banking and payments market, we have decided to scrap EWPN membership fees for individuals from 2019.

We already have a diverse membership spectrum, but as we work together to address the gender imbalance in the industry, we need the backing and input of women and men of all ages, backgrounds, and levels of experience. The more women who get involved, as well as men who recognise the critical issues we seek to address, the greater support and inspiration we can provide to each other. In turn, this means we can have a greater impact on current and future generations of women in cards & payments, FinTech and banking.

As an individual member of EWPN, you will gain exclusive access to women in the payments industry, including, but not limited to: CEOs, Presidents, Senior Managers, emerging leaders and women from all levels in the cards & payments, FinTech and Banking industries. EWPN provides a platform for professionals to inspire and empower one another through networking opportunities with established industry leaders and newcomers alike, mentoring programmes, discounts to industry events and the overall promotion of diversity in the industry.
